The Legislative Audit Commission will accept applications from persons who wish to be considered for appointment as the Auditor General of the State of Illinois. The Auditor General is a constitutional officer charged with the audit of the public funds of the State.
Applicants must be experienced and competent in governmental auditing, financial management or government operation and knowledgeable of state government. The current salary is $212,800. The Auditor General is not allowed to hold any other employment.
After screening and interviews, the Commission will recommend a candidate(s) to the General Assembly for appointment to a ten-year term. An affirmative vote of 3/5s of the members of each House of the General Assembly is required for appointment. The term of the present Auditor General will expire December 31, 2025.
